The Laudato Si group at St Mary’s Alton, held their first Creation Mass. The church was decorated, with special flowers and music to enhance the liturgy. It served as a gentle but firm reminder of our responsibilities to the planet and all people.

There was an engaging start with a PowerPoint before Mass began, leading to a “Live Simply” summary, reminding people about the parish focus on Laudato Si. The readings were well delivered with a super rendition of the psalm.

The contribution of the children in the bidding prayers was a really touching reminder of our need to consider the world that future generations will inherit. A relaxed talk at the end of the Mass hit just the right note, informing us how we are moving on to the next phase of the Programme, when we will ask our parishioners to consider their energy usage.

We asked for donations for Alton foodbank and were stunned by the generosity of our parishioners. All goods donated will be delivered to the Foodbank this week. donations to foodbank
